12 Eylül darbesinden 30 yıl sonra…

Yavuz, yıllar önce en yakın arkadaşı Refik’i polise ihbar eder. Refik hapiste yatarken, Yavuz da bu süre içerisinde kendiyle hesaplaşır. Refik hapisten çıktıktan sonra uzak ve kimselerin olmadığı bir köye yerleşir. Yavuz onu arar ve bulur.

Refik artık inanacağı bir şey kalmayan, inanacağı, sığınacağı insanların ihanetine uğramış eski bir devrimcidir. Yavuz’sa ona ihanet eden en yakın arkadaşı… Refik için hapisten çıktıktan sonra yapacak bir şey kalmamıştır. Dinlenir. Düşüncelerinden bir adım gerilememiştir. Belki bu yüzden de birçokları gibi o da zamanını bekler…

1980 darbesi sırf politik, sosyolojik ve askeri tabirlerle açıklandığında tarihin tozlu raflarına kaldırılması kolaylaşacak bir vakaya dönüşür. 12 Eylül’ün Türk toplumunda bıraktığı iz sadece bu terimlerle açıklanamaz. Türkiye yakın tarihi ve toplumsal psikolojisi ikiye bölünmüştür. 12 Eylül öncesi ve sonrası…

Dünyanın başka ülkelerinde olduğu gibi Türkiye’de de toplumdaki anti-emperyalist bireyler ötekileştirilip, mimlendi. Onları temizlemek için her tür yol mubah sayıldı. Bu yollar bu insanların en yakınlarından, ailesinden ve dostlarından da geçti. Kimi zaman zorla, kimi zaman vaatlerle, kimi zaman da kandırılarak.

Bu post-toplum mühendisleri konuşmayan, tartışmayan, karşı çıkmayan ve birbirlerine güvenmeyen insanlar yarattılar. Bu toplumun “çimentosu” kişiliği demir ökçenin altında kaldı ve bölündü. Ve 12 Eylül bu kişilik bölünmesinden farklı “bilim kurgu” bir zaman yarattı kendine. Bir yanda gündüzleri hayallerinde yaşayanlar, bir yanda ise geceleri rüyalarında gerçekle, yaptıklarıyla yüzleşenler.

“Bedel” işte bu öyküyü, bu “bilim kurgu” zamanı, bu kişilik bölünmesini dili döndüğünce anlatmaya çalışıyor.

THE REMORSE

A Short film about remorse and time.

None of a crime is forgotten as long as the conscience remembers it.

“Only the honorable deads can be buried in gladness.

After 30 years , military coup september 12 1980 in Turkey….

Yavuz denounces his best friend, Refik, to the police years ago. He settles up with himself when Refik is in the prison. After getting out of the prison, Refik settles down in a far village where almost nobody lives. Yavuz searches for and finds him.”

Refik is an old revolutionarist who was betrayed by the people he would believe and now has nothing to believe in anymore. Yavuz is his best friend who betrayed him. Nothing is left for Refik after he gets out of the prison. He rests. He hasn’t moved backward his thoughts. Probably for that reason, he waits for his time, like many others.

Coup d’etat in 1980 becomes an issue that can be removed to the dusty shelves of history when it is explained in political, sociological and military terms. However, its impact on Turkish people can not be revealed only in these terms. The recent history of Turkey and the social psychology of Turkish people are now broken into two: before and after September 12…

As in many other countries, in Turkey also, anti-imperialist individuals had been distinguished and marked as ‘others’. Any means of clearing them away had been accepted as permissible. The ways of ‘cleaning’ passed also through their closest ones, families and friends. Sometimes by force, sometimes by promising and sometimes via cheating…

The post-society engineers have created persons who don’t talk, argue, react or trust in each other. The ‘cement’ of the soceity, its personality was defeated under the iron heels and was broken and divided. And, September 12 has created a science-fictional era, away from this division. On one side, there are those who live in their dreams during the day, and on the orher side, those who at nights face the realities and what they have done.

“The Remorse” tries to tell the story of science-fictional era and division as much as it can.
